Join us for an evening workshop with the acclaimed Step Afrika!
A percussive and highly energetic art form developed by historically African American fraternities and sororities, stepping uses footsteps, claps, stomps, and spoken word to create complex, layered rhythms known as polyrhythms. It has grown to become one of the most dynamic and influential American art forms.
Workshop 1: Educators’ Workshop
For teachers and teaching artists interested in learning more about the elements and cultural significance of stepping and how it can connect to their work with students.
Time: 5:00 PM
Cost: $25 per person
Workshop 2: Community Workshop
An intergenerational workshop open to community members ages 12 and up.
Time: 5:15 PM
Cost: Pay what you wish, $10 suggested
