Positive Youth Troupe (PYT) is a traveling musical theater company of talented teens between the ages of 13 and 18.

Free training is provided by professional actors / directors, writers, composers, and choreographers who strengthen students’ performance skills and support them in the development of compelling productions that bring today’s issues and hope to other young people throughout the city. An interview and audition (consisting of a 3 minute monologue, song, or dance piece) is to be scheduled with the Director of PYT.

Drama for Teens:

Participants must earn the privilege of performance through demonstrated effort, fulfillment of production responsibilities (i.e. memorization of script), exemplary attendance, active participation in workshops, satisfactory school performance, and conduct that shows positive leadership qualities over the course of the term.

In addition to workshops in acting, creative writing, music/voice and choreography, the growth of Positive Youth Troupe members is holistically supported through classes in conflict resolution, counseling services, and tutoring that is available to all and required for those failing a subject. Positive Youth Troupe is Mind-Builders’ premiere performance component, dedicated to building permanent life-skills while realizing latent talent.
